Scream Queen Icons #13: Christina Ricci hasn’t done a huge amount of out-and-out horror films in her career. She has for a long time though been a bit of a goth icon and for that, she gains her place here. Indeed, if you were a young male (or female) who grew up as an Alternative Kid in the 1990s, Christina Ricci was probably an essential icon for you.
Born in 1980, Christina Ricci’s career began in 1990, when she starred alongside Cher in Mermaids. She rose to prominence the following year with her head turning portrayal of Wednesday Addams in Barry Sonnenfelds Addams Family film.
She reprised the role 2 years later in the sequel, Addams Family Values, and since then has barely looked back. Later, she starred alongside Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow, further cementing her goth icon status. As her career progressed, she refused to be pigeonholed. To that length, she has appeared in major blockbusters, and small independent films just as often.
She has also had a successful TV career, and has provided voice overs for a number of video games.
